Mitosis: The Natural Cloning Process

All living organisms grow and reproduce. Eukaryotic organisms, which include you and I, accomplish this through a process called mitosis. During mitosis, a cell clones itself allowing its DNA to be replicated and distributed equally among two cells.

Researchers have discovered that foods high in unsaturated fats can actually suppress hunger. Avocados, nuts, and olive oil are examples of hunger curbing foods that trigger the body to produce a compound which signals the brain that the person is full.

Foods high in unsaturated fats produce oleic acid which is transformed into a compound called oleoylethanolamide (OEA) in the small intestines. OEA suppresses appetite by sending messages to the brain that lead to feelings of fullness. Previous studies have shown that when OEA levels are increased, it promotes weight loss and even lowers blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
